We will have to arrange a trans-european meetup. And maybe you can give me some tips on maximizing space in a tiny euro fridge.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5413615485793018819.post-19362585179109050492012-03-05T17:18:29.657+01:002012-03-05T17:18:29.657+01:00Lee! Lentils and kale sounds particularly yummy, and I'd make it right this minute if I could only track down some decent looking kale in Zurich. For whatever reason it has not caught on as the 'it' leafy green as it has in the states. Hope all is well..and yes the croutons are really the star.Talleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02526439207082547500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5413615485793018819.post-61246404071330190722012-03-05T17:13:33.483+01:002012-03-05T17:13:33.483+01:00Through his example, my boyfriend has turned me in...Through his example, my boyfriend has turned me into a soup-making fiend: potato leek, carrot cauliflower (with ginger), mushroom barley, lentils and kale. It's great because it's really about the process—and tossing in whatever you happen to have around.

As you've shown, croutons are key.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5413615485793018819.post-1761527577522659332012-03-02T18:35:42.557+01:002012-03-02T18:35:42.557+01:00This soup looks so tasty, Talley. I'll be trying this ASAP.

And avocados... I definitely can eat an entire avocado in one sitting, easy peasy. Except I eat it while reading blogs (like yours right now this morning!) which is hardly as nice as spending your morning being "neighborly," haha.

Love the look of this soup, Talley. I'm starting to turn to more vegetable based soups too as it's getting closer to spring but still cold enough outside to be soup-worthy weather. Hope the snow doesn't stay for too much longer over there!Amyhttp://themoveablefeasts.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5413615485793018819.post-77117454406651455642012-03-02T15:25:05.464+01:002012-03-02T15:25:05.464+01:00Kelsey - This is film! I'm still experimenting with my film camera, which has been fun, although a bit frustrating and not nearly as quick a turn around as digital.

Katie - Glad to know I'm not the only nitwit who turned the blender on with a finger near the blade. Silly contraption, but oh-so useful. That lentil-bacon-chard-mint soup sounds right up my alley. A little fat is good for the skin (and the soul). Glad to hear that you are on my soup wavelength!Talleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02526439207082547500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5413615485793018819.post-1399812646339711212012-03-02T15:17:34.017+01:002012-03-02T15:17:34.017+01:00This really looks like my kind of soup, Talley. I ...This really looks like my kind of soup, Talley. I am all about soup in the winter. I try to make one for dinner at least once a week and then have a bowl or two leftover so that a couple of lunches are taken care of. Fennel, red pepper, and white wine sound made for one another, and I'm always looking to get some use out of my immersion blender!

About immersion blender accidents, one of the girls in my program really cut two of her fingers last fall. She's okay now, but finger-immersion-blender mishaps seem quite common. I'm glad your mishap wasn't too serious!

And if you're looking for more comforting soups, you should check out Nigel Slater's Tender. The soups aren't nearly as healthy as this one, but they are pretty much what you want when it's wet and cold out. I just made one with lentils, bacon, chard, and mint.
