Brioche is my biggest weakness, especially smeared with Nutella, but that's a whole 'nother story. Love your thoughts on breakfast - regardless of how busy or tired I am, I always wake up earlier than I have to so I can enjoy a leisurely breakfast in peace :)Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16115876307205900343noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5413615485793018819.post-79642524182091570822012-07-26T16:29:37.499+02:002012-07-26T16:29:37.499+02:00Breakfast is absolutely my favorite meal of the da...Breakfast is absolutely my favorite meal of the day! You've been very spot on with language talks lately. ;) But it's so true, "to eat" is fit for a bowl of oatmeal maybe (it's that or greek yogurt for my usual breakfast too haha), but definitely not for a lingering over the course of the morning with french toast, syrup, and bacon. Your french toast looks fantastic. I've always liked it, but when once I used leftover challah bread, I swore to myself I'd only use some sort of buttery eggy bread. Haha, and I agree with that nice list--with real maple syrup, cinnamon, thick slices. I can't believe I've never made it with buttermilk! I'm not sure that Octavian and I can squeeze in a French toast breakfast anytime soon, but when we do, it'll be with buttermilk. Yours looks so perfect.

P.S. That is some seriously gorgeous-looking bread! I wish I could pop over to Paris for the weekend on a bread-eating mission like yours.Katiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02728857878966566813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5413615485793018819.post-83211336048545846542012-07-24T20:13:56.026+02:002012-07-24T20:13:56.026+02:00Ali - the queen of buttermilk - you definitely nee...Ali - the queen of buttermilk - you definitely need to make this French toast. I think you'd LOVE it. Okay, I suck at the griddle too. I especially suck when it comes to pancakes. I think the trick is getting it hot enough before you put the first piece in? Really I just kinda wing it and pray and add more butter. I did find that the pan got to hot towards the end so I had to lower the heat. Good luck and happy eating :)Talleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02526439207082547500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5413615485793018819.post-836036531378989812012-07-24T19:34:19.948+02:002012-07-24T19:34:19.948+02:00Talley, I need to make this. I can't believe I have never thought to try buttermilk with French toast when, as you mentioned, it is the secret to the best pancakes and waffles. Genius. I might have to make some brioche today so I can enjoy this French toast tomorrow. And I couldn't agree with you more about soggy French toast...no bueno. I have the same trouble with French toast that I have with pancakes, however — I suck at the griddle. I'm going to do some mental preparations tonight so that I can nail this tomorrow. It looks just about perfect!alihttp://www.alexandracooks.comnoreply@blogger.com
